In 2013, Brenda H. Owens—a devoted life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated's®  Alpha Beta Omega Chapter, and a passionate advocate for health in the New Orleans community—lost her battle with lung disease. To honor her legacy, the Brenda H. Owens Wellness Event was established to promote health education and encourage active, healthy living throughout our community. 

Each year we reach hundreds of community members, and provide a variety of activities such as workout classes, mental health advocacy sessions, health screenings, healthy food demonstrations, and more. It’s a dynamic and inspiring opportunity for individuals and organizations to come together in support of a healthier New Orleans.

Now it its tenth year, this year's Brenda H. Owens School Success and Wellness Fair will take place on August 22, 2026 at Fannie C. Williams Charter School. Join us as we begin our celebration of 100 years of service to the Greater New Orleans Community.
